Minamisawa lion dance Japan has a tradition of lion dance throughout the nation, dancing in pace with the music. Known in Japanese as “Shishi-mai”. The Minamisawa residents worshiping the guardian deity has taken over this lion dance skill since Edo period.This lion dance is a festival which carries out to dedicate gratitude to deities in good harvest year. The lion head is heroic and this type is rare. Minamisawa lion dance is designated as cultural heritage of Higashikurume city.

History People say that the calm place with Sagashira spring water has been treated holy since ancient times. Nobody knows when this shrine has established. But the old wooden plate proves that the shrine has existed here at least since 1658. The shrine was burnt down in a fire in 1969, but local residents worshiping the guardian deity rebuilt the new shrine in 1971.
